SQL Server Index Analysis & Defrag
Fragmentation Manager dramatically improves the manageability and visibility of index fragmentation across the SQL Server enterprise. It helps you to make good decisions about how and when to defragment, and then defrags indexes faster than ever before via support for multiple concurrent operations.
Fragmentation Manager is managed primarily from the Indexes tab within Performance Advisor. The integration with Performance Advisor allows you to assess the impact of fragmented indexes and tables on server and query performance, and Event Manager lets you easily manage defragmentation schedules with the calendar via drag-and-drop.
The Indexes tab includes multiple historical charts showing used and wasted space, for both disk and buffer, at the table and index level. The Index Space Usage chart shows you exactly how much of an index is on disk and in buffer over time, and how much disk and buffer space is wasted due to non-full pages. With built-in defragmentation notifications, you can be as informed as you want to be regarding the status of your defrag operations.
